Resident shot at during early morning burglary

COVINGTON, Ga. – Investigators with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office are looking for whoever burglarized a home early April 3 and fired a shot at the resident when they were discovered.

According to the NCSO incident report, authorities responded to the home on Broken Branches Court on a report of a discharged firearm. The resident reportedly told deputies at approximately 6:25 a.m. somebody broke into their house and rummaged through their belongings before firing a gun at them when they confronted them.

According to a NCSO spokesperson, there were no injuries in the incident and nothing was reported missing. The spokesperson said the case is still under investigation.
