COVINGTON, Ga. - The Newton County Recreation Commission sign at Spillers Park, located on Jefferson Avenue in the city of Covington, has been removed after recent debate between Newton County and Covington about the ownership and management of the park.

The park was also removed from the NCRC website from the listing of parks.

Newton County Public Information Officer Bryan Fazio said the county could not locate an intergovernmental agreement or any other official document putting the park under the purview of the NCRC, so the NCRC board voted to remove the sign and website information.
