The Whitaker family has been building homes since 1959. The business is now run by Allen Whitaker and his siblings David Whitaker, Lanae Martin and Lisa Whitaker.

Over the years, the business has grown from a small hardware store and lumber yard to a 9-acre facility located several hundred yards off of Ga. Highway 36.

"We have a complete line of all building supply needs," Allen said. "We have a complete line of hardware. We are completely service-oriented."

Whitaker Builders Supply is also a distributor of Pella windows, Jeld-Wen windows and doors and Care-Free builders' grade windows.

"When you come to our place, it's not like a Home Depot or a Lowe's," Allen said. "All you do is walk into the counter and ask for what you need and I have someone who will wait on you."

Last year the Whitakers added a design center to their store that features American Woodmark and Timberlake cabinets, granite, Corian and solid-surface and laminate counter tops and cabinet hardware. Computer design, on-site measuring and delivery are all free of charge.

Contractors are invited to stop by for a quote on their next project and are welcome to have their customers come in to the design center to view the wide selections available.
