Located on Elm Street, Ludie’s Sporting Goods has called Covington home since 1982. First located in Newton Plaza, the store moved to its current location in 1996.

Owner Richie Childers says the store services the local schools, helping with equipment and uniforms. He also has a large supply of local high school shirts, sweatshirts and hats. Ludie’s carries state team clothing as well, such us UGA and Georgia Tech.

"I was born and raised in Newton County," Childers said. "And I like to support our local teams."

The store has everything needed for sports enthusiasts, especially for football, baseball and girl’s fast pitch softball — the three sports they specialize in. They also carry Georgia boots and Rocky boots.

Ludie’s is located at 2204 Elm Street and can be reached by phone at (770) 787-3014. They are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
