SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — A dream came true for Stephen Bishop on Jan. 27.
Bishop inked his National Letter of Intent to continue his golf career at Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia. He has been a member of Social Circle’s golf team for the last four years.
“It was always my dream to play golf at the next level,” Bishop said. “I started playing with my dad when I first played seven years ago. It has always been my goal since my freshman year of high school.”
Though Bishop has aspired for this moment for four years now, he’s still excited for what’s to come in the fall.
After receiving advice from family members, old teammates and coaches, Truett McConnell was the clear decision for his next step.
“I am looking forward to being able to develop my game in the next four years,” Bishop said. “And develop my faith in the Lord. It is a great school for me to grow my faith and my golf career.”
Bishop realized that this opportunity to continue his career wouldn’t have been possible without Social Circle High School and its support.
Overall, though, he’s grateful for all the people he’s come in contact with the last four years.
“Social Circle has taught me how to develop friendships and how to be a leader,” Bishop said. “Being in a smaller school really opened doors to closer relationships with my friends, teachers and coaches. I will appreciate the lifelong friendships I have made and enjoy every second.”
