A masked man robbed a Suntrust bank branch on Ga. Highway 138 in the second grab-and-dash bank heist to occur in Conyers in one week.

Shortly after 10 a.m. today, a black male, described as approximately 6 foot, 2 inches and weighing around 200 pounds, came into the Suntrust bank on Ga. Highway 138 wearing a dark colored ski mask, black hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and yellow gloves, said Conyers Police Chief David Cathcart.

"He actually pulls himself over the counter at the bank and grabs money (from drawers) and places the money in a beige colored bag," said Cathcart.

No gun was reportedly drawn or threatened. There was also reportedly no security guard present.

"Then he climbs back over the counter and exits the rear door of the bank," said Cathcart. "He was last seen heading towards the back of the Piccadilly restaurant."

Law enforcement set up a perimeter but were unsucessful in apprehending the suspect.

On Monday, the nearby Wachovia bank branch on Ga. Highway 138 was robbed by a suspect in a ski mask who jumped the counter, grabbed money and put it in a bag and ran out the door. Cathcart said investigators were looking to see whether there was a connection.
