IN BRIEF: Terrence Artis, executive director of the Barksdale Boys and Girls Club in Conyers, was reportedly let go from the organization as of Friday.

A Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta official reportedly called a Barksdale BGC staff meeting Friday afternoon to let them know Artis and the organization "have parted ways."

Terry Moore, who also oversees the George Washington Carver Boys and Girls Club in DeKalb County, will be serving as interim executive director during the search for a replacement, according to a BGC of Metro Atlanta spokesperson.

No reason was publically given for the departure. Parent complaints had arisen at least in the last several months regarding safety and precaution measures being neglected.

Artis, 42, was appointed as the Barksdale club director in 2012. He had previously served as the Shurette Teen Center Director at the Barksdale club for two years until 2011, when he served as a temporary director at the Norcross club.

The director before Artis, Ty Woods, led the club for about six months. The director before Woods, Erly Saldano, led the club for about two years from 2009 to 2011. The director before Saldano, Mike Roberts, had headed the club for about 20 years.
