AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — A company that provides customer service workers for contracting clients plans to add 200 jobs at its call center in Augusta.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1h9kCCy ) Sitel is adding the full-time jobs to handle technical assistance calls for a large national cable company. Michael McDonnell, director of Sitel's Augusta site, declined to name the client.

McDonnel said Monday some of the new jobs are going to former employees. Sitel laid off about 675 workers in Augusta earlier this year when it lost a telecommunications contract.

The new hires will bring total employment at the Augusta call center to about 300 staffers.

A Nashville, Tennessee, based subsidiary of the Canadian firm Onex Corp., Sitel employs about 56,000 people who work from home or at more than 110 centers in 23 countries.
