DeKalb police rescue 2 girls after tip about prostitution

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) — DeKalb County police say three people were arrested after officers got a tip two girls were being held and forced into prostitution.

Local media report officers responded to the apartment in Stone Mountain around 10 p.m. Thursday. Police say a SWAT team was called in after a man inside the apartment pointed a gun at an officer.

Police forced their way into the apartment after a standoff that lasted several hours. They rescued a 12-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl.

Two men and a woman inside the apartment were arrested.

The girls were taken into protective custody, and police are trying to determine how long they had been held and force to perform sex acts.
