COVINGTON, Ga. - Congressman Hank Johnson presented M'Kayla Solomon with an American flag that flew over the Capitol and a certificate at the Covington branch of the Newton County Library System during a Great American Read program Friday night. Solomon, 4, has read 1,000 books before starting kindergarten. 

The Congressman was also on hand to celebrate the Newton County Library System receiving a $2,000 grant to support programming. 

In addition to the grant money, Newton County Library System will receive a DVD collection of the series with public performance rights; a hardcover copy of the companion book, “The Great American Read: The Book of Books” by PBS (Black Dog & Leventhal, Aug. 21, 2018); and other resources.
