COVINGTON, Ga. – The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Friday morning crash that claimed a man’s life, according to a NCSO spokesperson.

Sgt. Cortney Morrison said the accident happened around 7:30 a.m. today when a Jeep Cherokee traveling west near 1441 Brown Bridge Road crossed the centerline and struck a Chevrolet Avalanche head-on.

The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene.  An adult female and two children in the Avalanche were transported to local area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
