MANSFIELD, Ga. - Arbor Equity, with locations in Covington and Eatonton, won the Overall Team Challenge at the Georgia Arborist Association Tree Climbing Championship based at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center on April 7 and 8 in Mansfield.
Arbor Equity’s team made from both of their locations consisted of Chase Alexander, Justin Robinette, Kirk Uhler, Austin Cohn and Brandon Singletary.
The individual events are Open Ascent, Aerial Rescue, Throwline, Belayed Speed and Work Climb. Cohn took the individual overall in Open Ascent going 50 feet straight up a rope in 8 seconds.
These events are designed to showcase the skill it takes to properly perform tree work.
The top three in-state contestants and two out-of-state contestants of the preliminary events went on to compete in the Master’s Challenge on Sunday, April 8. Cohn third overall in the Master’s Challenge.
This was the 25th year the competition has been held. This year's event was filled with competitors from as far away as Canada and Sweden.
