COVINGTON, Ga. - Piedmont Urgent Care by WellStreet, your community urgent care provider, has opened a newly renovated, state of the art facility in Covington on Sept. 17 at 5239 Highway 278 NE.
Piedmont Urgent Care provides non-life-threatening illness and injury care seven days a week close to home, with extended night and weekend hours, and is an alternative to busy emergency rooms and after-hours care for primary care offices.
Urgent care visits can be utilized for common cold symptoms such as cough, sore throat, nasal drainage, and ear pain. Other conditions treated include rashes, nausea and vomiting, minor cuts and burns, urinary tract symptoms, minor sprains and strains, insect bites, migraines, and dehydration. If your injury or illness is more serious, or you’re experiencing symptoms of a heart attack, stroke, or traumatic injury, go to the ER.
In addition to walk-in care for minor injuries, illnesses, vaccinations, and physicals, Piedmont Urgent Care offers on-site diagnostic imaging services, in-house medication dispensary, and accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and competitive self-pay rates. The facility will be operated by WellStreet, a national urgent and family healthcare provider that began serving Atlanta communities in 2012.

The emergency room is still the place to go for patients experiencing any signs of a heart attack or stroke. Severe stomach pain that is accompanied by other symptoms such as coughing up or vomiting blood, dizziness or fainting and vision changes should all be treated immediately in the emergency room as well.
