SOCCER: Peachtree Academy girls punch ticket to second straight GICAA state championship game

COVINGTON, Ga. — The Peachtree Academy girls soccer team will get a chance to to play for a Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association state championship for the second straight year after it defeated Trinity Christian 2-1 Tuesday in the GICAA state semifinals to advance.  

The Lady Panthers were led by senior Nikki Blake who opened up the scoring by sending a great through-ball to Nadia Janousek for the first goal of the game.  

When the final whistle blew, the game was tied 1-1. After a scoreless overtime, Peachtree prevailed in penalty kicks 3-1.  Peachtree’s defense was led by Anna Yount and goalkeeper Maddie Hearn.  

The Panthers will face Cherokee Christian in the Championship game Friday May 3 at 6 p.m. at the MOBA Soccer Complex in Peachtree City.
