Alcohol is suspected to be involved in a single-vehicle crash that killed a 27-year-old Conyers man early Saturday morning in north Rockdale.

Joshua Lagrand was the passenger in a Dodge Caravan when the crash occured on Costley Mill Road as they approached Ga. Highway 138 around 4:30 a.m., Feb. 9.

According to a Rockdale County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, the van ran off the road, striking several trees. Lagrand reportedly died instantly from his injuries. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to an Atlanta area hospital.

Investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology tests, but if alcohol does turn out to be a factor, the driver would likely be charged with first degree vehicular homicide, among other charges.
