After two years of planning and several months of construction, the newly rebuilt McDonald's on Ga. Highway 138 and Flat Shoals will open for business again Thursday.
Customers can expect an enhanced dining experience with aesthetically pleasing stonework outside. The interior features an updated dining area with bright colors and modern decor. For regular customers and groups, there's a community table area. For customers who want to work on their computers, there's free Wi-Fi and a bar seating area.
The new store contains about 10-14 more seats and more storage space.
Outside the store, beautiful bright flowering plants enhance and beautify the 138 and Flat Shoals intersection and aligns with the city's effort to enhance the appearance the Ga. 138 corridor, said co-owner Lynn Miller.
"We've been trying to rebuild this store for two years working with DOT and county planning and development changes," said Miller. "We finally have the building we wanted and needed for making our customers' and employees' experience more enjoyable."
There are 90 days of promotional specials.
On Thursday, April 11, the first 50 customers to come inside will receive free frequency cards. With the cards, after five meals, customers can receive a free meal.
On Tuesday, April 16 is the VIP worker day where city and county officials will be serving customers from behind the counter from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. There'll be various prizes for customers on that night as well.
On May 11, there's a grand re-opening celelebration with a visit from Ronald McDonald himself.
Vineyard Industries owns 10 McDonalds stores in Covington, Conyers, McDonough and Ellenwood.
Bruce Vineyard first opened the West Avenue/Klondike Road store in 1974, which was rebuilt in 2011.
