Florence's life was a testament to the power of love, joy, and enduring connection. Her remarkable career spanned over two decades at Middletown Psychiatric Center, a testament to her dedication and compassion. Following her retirement, she embraced a fulfilling life in Fort Pierce, Florida. Florence moved to Covington Ga where her spirit shined brightly, culminating in a heartwarming victory as she claimed the title of Ms. Senior Newton County at the age of 100! Her legacy extends far beyond these achievements, inspiring her children, grandchildren, and countless others whose lives she touched with kindness and grace. She will be deeply missed.

Florence is survived by her eight children: Lillian Yohe and her husband John Yohe of Texas; Johnny Smoot Jr., Las Vegas NV; Michael Smoot and his wife Christine Smoot of Poughkeepsie, NY; Theodore Smoot and his wife June Smoot of Fort Pierce, FL; Sheena Smoot-Pollidore, Fort Pierce, FL; Artie Johnson, Las Vegas, NV; Queen Schwartz and her husband Paul Schwartz of Covington, GA; and Paul Smoot and his wife Pamela Smoot of Monroe, NY.

Florence was also blessed with 17 grand-children, 32 great-grandchildren, and 4 Great-great grandchildren.
