Two Newton County high school students are facing several serious charges after reportedly having sexual contact with a female student on a school bus in late November.

Brandon Raven Martin and Tindale Thomas Kemp Jr, both 17, were each charged with sodomy, aggravated sodomy, child molestation, aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and public indecency.

According to Lt. Keith Crum with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, officials reviewed a tape from the school bus on Nov. 29 and in the video it appeared that a 15-year-old female was having oral sex with Martin and Kemp. Since the age of consent is 16, she could not legally consent to the sex acts.

 Martin and Kemp were arrested Tuesday. Martin remained Thursday evening in the Newton County Detention Center in lieu of a $22,200 bond and Kemp was released on a $22,200 bond on Wednesday.

No comment was available on the incident from the Newton County School System by late Thursday.
