Newton County Schools closed Wednesday

Newton County Schools will be closed for both students and staff Wednesday due to predicted inclement weather.

According to a release form NCSS, the closing comes "out of an abundance of caution to protect the safety and wellbeing of our students and employees."

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Newton County in effect from 10 a.m. Wednesday through 10 a.m. Thursday.

A rain or a rain and snow mix is predicted to begin Wednesday morning, then becoming all snow during the afternoon and continuing into Wednesday night. Accumulations of snow from 2-4 inches could be possible in Newton County.
