Dr. LaMoyne Artie Brunson, III, named Fairview Elementary School principal

Dr. LaMoyne “Artie” Brunson, III has been appointed as Fairview Elementary School’s new principal.

Brunson, formerly the assistant principal at Fairview, has been an assistant principal for eight years. Brunson begins a new journey at a familiar school starting in the 2016-17 school year.

Fairview's previous principal, Dr. Naomi Cobb recently took over as principal at the Newton County Theme School.

As the Newton County Board Members proclaimed during a special called meeting Thursday, Brunson will continue to be an asset to the Newton County School System with his outstanding achievements and experience.

Brunson has been in education for 20 years. As well as being an assistant principal, he taught second and third grade classes in previous years. Brunson was also given a Teacher of the Year award.

The Newton County School System alumnus has recently graduated from Liberty University in May of 2015, earning his Doctor of Education degree.

Brunson’s expected first day of work is Monday, July 11.

 

Chandra Mitchell becomes inaugural Newton County Schools ‘HERO’

History was made on Tuesday night when longtime Newton County Schools (NCS) employee Chandra Mitchell was named the inaugural Newton County Schools district-wide “HERO.”
