Alcovy, Eastside prepare to display student talents

Both Alcovy and Eastside High schools have events coming up that will showcase their students talents.

At AHS, the school's One Act Competition play "dont u luv me?" will be performed at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 in the auditorium of the school. General admission tickets are $2or two canned goods, which will be given to a food pantry for the holidays. Teachers receive free admission.

The play, by Linda Daugherty, teaches about the signs of dangerous teenage relationships.

Eastside High's show choir will be performing their fall musical review "Re-living the 80s" at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 and 3:30 and 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 in the EHS auditorium.
Tickets are $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students.

The show will be a review of the best of 80s music presented in an upbeat atmosphere and will include both singing and choreography.

Chandra Mitchell becomes inaugural Newton County Schools ‘HERO’

History was made on Tuesday night when longtime Newton County Schools (NCS) employee Chandra Mitchell was named the inaugural Newton County Schools district-wide “HERO.”
