COVINGTON, Ga. — A man has been banned from Newton and Walton counties after pleading guilty to armed robbery.

Kontney Faurisma, 29, of Sunrise, Florida, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of armed robbery related to a holdup of a gas station on Salem Road in Newton County in June 2018. He was to go on trial Feb. 4.

Judge Eugene M. Benton sentenced Faurisma under a non-negotiated guilty plea to 20 years, with the first 12 to be served in prison. Benton also banned Faurisma from the Alcovy Circuit.

Faurisma still faces charges in Florida, according to Newton County prosecutors.
