COVINGTON, Ga. – Vehicle hang tags to Newton County’s Trash Collection Convenience Centers are on sale now.

This year, Newton County’s Residential User Program provides citizens with two options for garbage disposal. One option is the same service Newton County residents have enjoyed for roughly two decades allowing disposal of all household garbage. The second option allows recycling only for those who have curbside residential garbage pickup or bring their trash directly to the landfill.

Tags are $145 for all six centers, including the recycling-only option or $24 for the recycling-only center, located on Bypass Road. The tags are valid from the date of purchase through June 30, 2018. Tags can be purchased at the Newton County Historic Courthouse, 1124 Clark Street, Covington, GA from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, online at ncboc.com/online-services/residential-user-access-program or through the mail by printing out an application form from ncboc.com and sending it to 1113 Usher Street, Covington, Ga, 30014.

The five full-service centers and their locations are:

  • Adams Circle - 2010 Adams Circle
  • Stone Road - 70 Stone Road
  • Stewart - 14645 Highway 36
  • Piper Road - 10545 Highway 36
  • Oak Hill - 112 Oak Hill Road

The one recycling-only center is:

  • Bypass – 11575 Covington Bypass Road

Vehicle hang tags are required to use one of the county’s collection centers. Only Newton County residents can purchase and use a tag, and they must show proof of residence at the point of purchase. Valid proofs of residency includes tax or utility bill, mortgage statement, driver’s license or lease agreement.

The current tags are only valid through June 30, 2017 and will not be accepted beginning July 1, 2017.
