COVINGTON, Ga. - The City of Covington unveiled its new terminal building at the Covington Municipal Airport Tuesday morning with a ribbon cutting event.
Included in the building is office space, a restaurant, conference room and more.
Airport Manager Vincent Passariello said the project has been a long awaited goal. Passariello is retiring from his position Friday.
The airport, located at 15200 Airport Road, serves Covington, Conyers and Atlanta and surrounding communities with more than 700 acres of land, a 5,500 x 75-foot runway and more.
The airport was officially opened in 1963, according to the “History of Newton County.”
