A 40-year-old Covington man was arrested Saturday and charged with child molestation.

According to Covington Police Department detective D.J. Seals, Albert Glover was arrested after a woman called authorities for assistance. After collecting evidence and conducting several interviews, detectives felt that had enough evidence to charge Glover in the crime which was allegedly committed against a 7-year-old girl who was not a stranger to him.

Although Glover has no previous arrests for sexual crimes, he was paroled in Feb. of 2008 from Rutledge State Prison where he was serving a sentence for obstruction of a law enforcement officer, perjury and first degree arson committed in Newton County in 2003.

Glover was also incarcerated previously in Gwinnett County for first degree arson in 1993 and attempted robbery in Newton County in 1988.

Teens allegedly selling pills

Two 14-year-old students at Alcovy High School were charged with selling/distributing drugs at the school after they were found to be in possession of several suspected Xanax pills.

The male and female students were caught after administration learned they may have pills in their possession. After evidence and statements were obtained, school resource officers were able to charge the students and confiscate the pills. It is unclear where the students had obtained the pills or whether other students had already purchased the medication from the suspects.
