A 77-year-old man, Robert Burgess, was killed Friday in a single car accident on Dixie Road according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Newton County 911 received a call at roughly 5:49 p.m. reporting the accident and Trooper Bryan Cuendet arrived shortly thereafter. He reportedly found Burgess’ 1998 BMW M3 sedan on its roof where it had landed after allegedly striking a power pole guy wire. Burgess was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Cuendet, Burgess suffered a heart attack, which was documented as the cause of the accident.

Investigations indicate Burgess was driving south on Dixie Road near Ga. Highway 142 when the accident occurred. He was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
