Due to last week's winter weather, the Georgia High School Association has rescheduled varsity basketball and wrestling state tournament dates.
The GHSA state basketball tournament extended the final date of region championship games to Wednesday, Feb. 19.
Class 2A-6A first- round games will begin Friday, Feb. 21, for the girls tournament and Saturday, Feb. 22, for the boys tournament.
Class A first-round games and Class 2A-6A second-round games will begin Monday, Feb. 24, for the girls tournament and Tuesday, Feb. 25, for the boys tournament.
Quarterfinal action for all rounds will begin Feb. 26 for the girls tournament and Feb. 27 for the boys tournament.
Class 2A-6A semifinals will be held March 1, with Class A semifinals beginning on March 3.
Semifinal site assignments will be made on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
State championship game action will begin March 6 and run through March 8 at the Macon Coliseum.
Tickets are $12 per day, and the final can be seen live on GPB-TV.
Wrestling change
The winter weather also forced the state wrestling tournament to change its start date, pushing back the opening round of the traditional dual tournament to Feb. 21.
The tournament will be held over two days, concluding Feb. 22.
The state tournament was scheduled to take place at the Gwinnett Arena, but due to scheduluing conflicts, the Class AAAAAA tournament will be held at Chattahoochee High, while the Class AAAA tournament will take place at West Laurens High.
