COVINGTON, Ga. — Recently, Newton basketball star Stephon Castle received an invite to compete for a spot in the Under 18 training camp for USA Basketball. After completing the training camp May 31, Castle, a four-star commit to UConn, was selected to be on the 2022 team. Out of 27 participants, Castle earned one of the team’s 12 spots. 

In his junior season, Castle averaged 16.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists. He earned Region 4-AAAAAAA Player of the Year and All-Covington News Most Valuable Player honors. 

Now, Castle will be playing for the Federation Internationale de Basketball Amateur (FIBA) U18 Americas Championship from June 6-12 in Tijuana, Mexico.
