The Pilot Club of Conyers held its annual "Share Pilot Night" on March 10 to celebrate the special projects and community groups supported by the Pilot Club and present checks to the groups that provide hands-on services to people with brain related disorders and disabilities. The Pilot Club of Conyers promotes and educate the public regarding prevention of brain injury, and brain disorders and disabilities. Organizations and representatives present to receive checks were: Nancy Shealy and Glynice Hayes of Georgia Artist with Disabilities, CeCe Hart and Erika Sellers Rockdale Special Olympics, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mike Sellers of Project Lifesaver, Jeff Beech of Conyers Lighthouse Village, Shawn Bell and Amanda Ledbetter Rockdale Meals on Wheels, Roger and Glenda Hyatt of Newton/Rockdale Brain Injury Support Group, Barbara Kilpatrick Rockdale Cares, Sirena Graves and Katherine and Ian of the Rockdale Autism Support Group. Joe Neely Pilot Club Co-President and Gwen Dean of Pilot Club Projects Direct. Unable to attend were Servants of the Lord, Meals on Wheels and Children First. Scholarship checks were presented by Joan McCannon to two Anchor Club members from Heritage High School: Jessica Reed and Tanvi Gala. The Pilot Club of Conyers currently sponsors Anchor Clubs at Heritage and Salem High School. Anchor Club is a volunteer service organization where young people choose service projects that meet the needs of their school and community. They often work with Pilot members on projects increasing the awareness of, and helping those affected by brain-related disorders. Anchors build lasting friendships and skills learning and enjoying volunteerism and community service through the Pilot club.
