A New Undertaking (May 8, 2010)

Scot Ward Funeral Services will soon be moving into its new digs as it completes construction on a new funeral home and mausoleum at the Green Meadow Memorial Gardens off of Ga. Highway 138.

The business expects to finish construction on the $3 million project by March 3. The airy new funeral home, chapel and reception area boasts 15,000 square feet of air conditioned space, seating for 100 in the chapel and room for another 100 for viewing through video feed in overflow rooms, said owner Scot Ward. Live web streaming will also be available. The home also has a reception hall with facilities to allow food to be served and expanded parking accommodations, said Ward.

“We’ve tried to create a more modern atmosphere for today’s customers and families,” he said.

Having the funeral home, mausoleum and cemetery at the same location will also offer families added convenience, said Ward.

The project was designed by an architectural firm J. Stuart Todd, which specializes in funeral homes, and constructed by Bon Building Services.

A ribbon cutting will be held on March 10 and there will be an Open House for the public to get a glimpse of the state-of-the-art center on March 20, from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. A drawing will be held for a flat screen TV and four individual burial plots.

 A tour and breakfast for clergy will be held March 15, from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
