There's no need to drive to the dry cleaners anymore. Torrie’s Dry Cleaning City can handle all of your laundry as well as pick up and delivery. Located on Ga. Highway 138, it not only offers senior citizen discounts but also offers alteration services, next-day service and preferred customer discounts.

Owners Katoria and Leonard Hampton, residents of Conyers for over a year, say the dry cleaning business is not as easy as it looks. "It’s a lot of maintenance," said Katoria.

When the Hamptons first took over the establishment, they had planned to open a different business. The previous owners had abruptly shut down and sold the business, without informing their customers of the closing. Customers then returned expecting to receive service from their preferred dry cleaners only to be surprised to find that it had been shut down. So the Hamptons had a change of plans and bought the business. "It has been the better choice," said Katoria about choosing to stick with the dry cleaning business.

"Most of our customers are returning customers, but we have had a good number of new customers," she said. With six employees, the Hamptons have owned the business since September 2008.

Torrie’s Dry Cleaning City uses eco-friendly, bio-degradable chemicals. "Most dry cleaners use Pert, but we use ‘green’ chemicals," says Katoria. The chemicals can be disposed without harming nature.

All dry cleaning is performed on site, and if you buy a Preferred Customer Card for only $3, you can receive a 10 percent discount on any service for an entire year.

Torrie’s Dry Cleaning City is located at 1171 Ga. Highway 138. For more information, call (770) 922-3299.
