Ms. Somone Jeannette Henderson was born Aug. 15, 1960, in Newton County to Mrs. Eva L. Henderson and Mr. Leotha “Smokey” Henderson, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Newton County High School Class of 1978.

“Simone”, as she was affectionately known, was employed at Golden State Foods in Conyers for 34 years until her death on Saturday, March 10, 2018. She was a dedicated worker and she enjoyed her job. Simone held various job assignments throughout her employment at GSF. She was very devoted to her family and loved every one of them. Simone helped in any way she could and most definitely had a heart of gold. No problem or task was too difficult for her. She had a passion for shopping and spending her time with her mother, sisters, loving son Roderick, grandsons and nephew. Simone will be missed by so many.

On Saturday, March 10, 2018, our Angel Simone gained her wings and entered her heavenly home.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her son, Roderick A. Henderson; her loving mother, Mrs. Eva Henderson; two loving grandsons, Rahmir and Giovanni; sisters, Ms. Stephanie Henderson and Ms. Tracie Leigh Henderson; Mrs. Brenda H. Hardeman and family; brother, Mr. Dexter L. Henderson and family; a loving nephew, KyAndre; a special and devoted friend, Mr. Sylvester Swift; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services began at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Rust Chapel United Methodist Church, 1214 N. Emory St., Oxford, with the Rev. Johnnetta Johnson as the eulogist. Burial followed at the Oxford Historical Cemetery.

Members of the Newton County High School Class of 1978 served as flower bearers, and family and friends were pallbearers.
