Mr. Archie Thomas Mulkey, age 95, of Jefferson, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014. He was born March 6, 1918, in Bremen, Georgia, a son of the late Elisha Samuel Mulkey and the late Attie Mae Smith Mulkey. Mr. Mulkey was a retired brickmason and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. Mr. Mulkey was preceded in death by his by his first wife, Lurlene Johnson Mulkey; two brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Copeland Whatley Mulkey of Jefferson; three step-children, Michael Whatley of Jefferson, Mary Whatley Maddox Couch of Hiawassee, and Brenda Whatley Coile of Homer; sister-in-law, Evelyn Clelland Mulkey of Conyers; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. March 6 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral home, with the Rev. Ralph Easterwood, Missionary Bob Johnson and the Rev. Carey Pittman officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, with grandsons honored as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. March 5 at the funeral home.
