George Robert Burpee, 84, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 27, 2016. Visitation will be Monday, August 29, 2016, from noon until 2 p.m. at Mansfield Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private at the wishes of the family.

George was born in Atlanta to the late Edward and Annie Mae Burke Burpee. He was a member of the Mansfield Baptist Church. He loved Jesus with all his heart. He loved his family, fishing and painting. He was a member of the Mansfield Pickers & Singers and loved to entertain people with his singing. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Janelle Lee Thornton Burpee; his brothers: Leon, Ed & Claude Burpee; and his sister Christine Burpee Reddin.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife Judy Burpee; his sons: Phil Burpee (Rebekah) of Mableton, Tim Burpee (Keri) of Cleveland, Georgia, Steve Burpee (Sheila) of Warner Robins; his daughter, Melissa Burpee Saren (Jeff) of Clinton, Michigan; his step-son, Greg Goins (Gwen) of Mansfield; his nephew, Melvin Reddin of Hapeville; his sister, Virginia Burpee Morgan of McDonough; his 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
