ATLANTA (AP) — Forecasters have issued a winter storm warning for much of north Georgia, saying parts of the state could see up to 3 inches of snow and sleet.
The National Weather Service posted its winter storm warning for 4 p.m. Friday through 1 p.m. Saturday. It says the worst winter weather is expected in portions of the state north of Rome, Cumming and Danielsville. In addition to accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet, residents could see ¼ inch of freezing rain.
Metro Atlanta is under a winter weather advisory, with up to an inch of snow and sleet forecast between Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
Officials say the winter weather could cause hazardous driving conditions and ice on trees and power lines could lead to power outages.
