ATLANTA (AP) — Forecasters say four tornadoes struck Georgia during recent weekend storms.

The National Weather Service says it surveyed damage from the Sunday storms and determined that one of the twisters moved from Alabama into Georgia, where it traveled across the southern part of Fort Benning, the U.S. Army post near the state line.

In Sumter County, a tornado Sunday morning south of Americus destroyed four large grain silos, spewing debris about a quarter-mile into a field. That tornado snapped 30-40 trees and damaged a large pecan orchard.

In Coffee County, authorities said a weak tornado damaged some homes west of Douglas.

In east Georgia, a Sunday afternoon tornado damaged several homes southeast of Augusta.

The four tornadoes ranged from EF-0 to EF-2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale of tornado strength.
