ATLANTA - Police say a northwest Atlanta grocery store owner fought back against burglars in two separate attempts to break into his store.
WSB-TV reports that both break-ins happened early Wednesday at the A&A Grocery store on Center Street.
Atlanta police say someone burglarized the store and left behind a hole in a cinderblock wall around 3 a.m.
They say the store owner patched the hole, but heard noises coming from it about three hours later.
Atlanta police officer John Chafee said the store owner saw a man coming through the hole, so he shot him in the chest.
Chafee said the wounded 23-year-old suspect was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and charged with burglary and criminal damage to property.
Names of those involved were not immediately available.
