ATLANTA (AP) — Thunderstorms are expected to roll across north and central Georgia, bringing the chance for severe weather as a storm system moves into the state.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say the best chance of severe storms on Friday will be north of a line from Columbus to Athens. They say the main threat will be strong winds, with around one-quarter to one-half inch of rain also expected.

In metro Atlanta, showers and thunderstorms will be likely mainly after 2 p.m. Friday.
