School resource officer investigated
Rockdale officer placed on leave after 'inappropriate relationship' allegation

IN BRIEF: A Rockdale County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer working at Heritage High School has been placed on administrative leave during an internal investigation into accusations of an "inappropriate relationship" with a student.

According to a released statement, School Resource Officer and Deputy Thomas Donahue has been placed on paid adminstrative leave and an internal investigation has been initiated.

The RCSO was contacted by the principal of Heritage High School on Monday regarding the possibility of an inappropriate relationship between the School Resource Officer, Thomas Donahue, and a current student.

Sheriff Jeff Wigington contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into any potential criminal charges.

This is Donahue's second year assigned to the school, and he has been employed with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office for approximately five years.
