FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — Dan Quinn says he's looking to build a defense that plays "fast and physical" and a balanced offense as the Atlanta Falcons coach.

The former Seattle defensive coordinator was introduced as the team's coach on Tuesday, only two days after the Seahawks' loss to New England in the Super Bowl.

Quinn says he has hired Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator and Richard Smith as defensive coordinator. Quinn says he'll play a prominent role on defense.

Defense was a big problem as the Falcons finished 6-10 in 2014 and 4-12 in 2013. The Falcons allowed the most total yards and yards passing in the league in 2014.

The 44-year-old Quinn helped Seattle reach back-to-back Super Bowls. Seattle beat Denver in last year's championship.
