ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta police have arrested a man accused in the beating death of an infant.

The Atlanta Police Department announced Sunday on Facebook that 26-year-old Jaquest Deeric Norris has been arrested on a murder charge related to the killing of 9-month-old Monte Jones, who died Nov. 11. Authorities say investigators also found evidence of sexual assault.

Police say Jones died of blunt force trauma.

The child's mother, Jasmine Jones, is being held on other charges.

Warrants had also been issued against Norris by authorities in Escambia County, Florida, in connection with an incident that took place in a home near Pensacola on Oct. 5.
