WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in middle Georgia say a Florida motorist arrested on drug charges managed to steal a deputy's patrol car and drive several miles after he had been placed in handcuffs.

WMAZ-TV reports (http://on.wmaz.com/1rJ8VoZ ) Houston County sheriff's officials say 21-year-old Seth Ray Stewart of Miami was arrested Saturday during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 after a deputy found drug evidence in the car. Sheriff's Capt. Ronnie Harlowe says Stewart managed to crawl through the open partition separating the patrol car's front and back seats in order to get behind the wheel and take the cruiser.

It's unclear exactly how the fleeing suspect managed to drive nearly 5 miles before he was apprehended. Harlowe says the arresting deputy cuffed Stewart's hands behind his back before placing him in the car.
