Kemp: Today marks start of municipal qualifying for November election
Vote

GEORGIA - Secretary of State Brian Kemp reminds Georgians that today is the start of the qualifying period across the state for the nonpartisan municipal election on Nov. 7.

Kemp encourages voters to contact local election officials for qualifying details, which vary by jurisdiction and check their registration status. It is easy to get registered to vote and update your voter record through Georgia’s online voter registration system.

Under O.C.G.A. § 21-2-132, municipal qualifying cannot begin earlier than 8:30 a.m. on the third Monday in August or end later than 4:30 p.m. on the following Friday. Local election officials must hold qualifying for no less than three days and no more than five days.

The Secretary of State’s Office will not publish election night results for November’s municipal nonpartisan elections. Please contact your local municipality on how to access election results.

Brian Kemp has served as Georgia’s Secretary of State since January 2010. Among the office’s wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting secure, accessible, and fair elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities, charities, and professional license holders.  For more information about the office, visit www.sos.ga.gov.
