LITHONIA (AP) - School officials say a student who brought a loaded handgun to Salem Middle School in Lithonia is in police custody.
Officials say the student was immediately apprehended on Thursday by school police officers.
They say the school is not on lockdown because there is no present danger to students or staff.
DeKalb County school officials say the 14-year-old student brought the gun to school and hid it behind the stage in the school's auditorium. They say other students found out about it and told school administrators, who contacted authorities.
