GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Georgia wildlife officials say they're stocking the state's waterways with fish before the opening of trout fishing season.
Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Melissa Cummings says officials are stocking Georgia waters with more than 80,000 trout this week before trout fishing season opens Saturday. Cummings says the state plans to stock waterways with more than 1 million trout by the end of the year.
Wildlife officials say the daily limit for trout fishing is eight and anglers are reminded to respect private property rights near streams that cut through private land.
Officials say anglers must have current Georgia fishing licenses and a trout license to fish in designated areas, which are listed online.
