ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia House Republican Caucus has chosen leaders after an appointment by Gov. Nathan Deal shook up the chamber following the 2015 legislative session.

Members met Monday in the Georgia House chamber.

Jon Burns of Newington was elected to serve as House majority leader over Allen Peake of Macon.

Gov. Nathan Deal recently appointed former Majority Leader Larry O'Neal of Bonaire as administrative law judge for the Georgia Tax Tribunal.

Bruce Williamson of Monroe was chosen to serve as the caucus' secretary treasurer. Peake had served in that position, but opted to run for majority leader.

Also on Monday, Mark Hamilton of Cumming told members that he plans to resign from the House. Hamilton says he has accepted a job offer in Tennessee.
