MORROW (AP) - An inmate injured during a courtroom fight with Clayton County sheriff's deputies has died.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/IMNYmC ) that Kevin Garard Guerrier died Monday, 10 days after the April 6 altercation that left him unconscious and hospitalized. Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead said an autopsy is scheduled for the 26-year-old.
Records show Guerrier was in court on charges he attacked a police officer during an arrest. It was unclear how he was injured in the scuffle, which erupted after Guerrier became disruptive in court.
Clayton County Sheriff Kem Kimbrough said he was first told that Guerrier was in the hospital for dialysis but later was told the suspect was brain dead.
