ATLANTA (AP) - Gov. Nathan Deal has signed legislation that outlaws all forms of synthetic marijuana in Georgia.

Deal signed Senate Bill 370 on Tuesday, which was named Chase's Law after 16-year-old Chase Corbitt Burnett who was found dead in his Fayette County home after smoking the substance. The teen's family joined the governor and other state leaders for the bill signing.

Synthetic cannabinoids contain marijuana-like chemical compounds combined with dried vegetation and are sold in gas stations throughout the state. The substance can cause psychosis and increase the tendency of violent behavior.

Law enforcement officials requested the bill be signed immediately so they can begin cracking down on the sale of the substance.
