SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A reward of nearly $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest after a body was stolen from a cemetery in Savannah.

Police responded to the cemetery earlier this month on reports that a mausoleum had been burglarized. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police spokesman Julian Miller said two caskets had been removed from their vaults and the body of a woman who died in 2001 was missing from one of them.

Miller has said police used a cadaver dog and a helicopter to search cemetery grounds, surrounding areas and storm water canals for the missing body.

WSAV-TV (http://bit.ly/WnkstE ) reports Hillcrest Abbey East Memorial Park has added to the $2,500 that was initially being offered and tipsters are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020.
