SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a bicycle rider died after a collision with a Savannah-Chatham police forensics van.

Garden City police Sgt. Tim McMillan tells The Savannah Morning News (http://bit.ly/xDuMhz) the collision happened on U.S. Highway 17, just north of Dean Forest Road.

McMillan said the occupants of the vehicle were both Savannah-Chatham police officers. He said Garden City police are handling the investigation.

Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller said the accident occurred at 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Names of the officers and the cyclist were not immediately released. The bicyclist was declared dead at the scene.
